Tonight's nightmare is brought to you by monkeys in old doll masks.  Rendered in ballpoint.

Dragon Cane

A little more progress on that dragon.

Close up here with and without greeble.

Zbrush material testing.

Maya material and lighting testing.   Trying to create the final bronze or aluminum look that the end result will have.

#Inktober

Trying out #Inktober for the first time.

Here is a random drawing which will hopefully go from drawing -> zbrush sculpt -> bronze (or aluminum) casting.  Still trying to get a hang of the work flow.  A whole different sense of satisfaction when you can go from the computer screen to the palm of your hand.

Here is the original sketch and the first zbrush pass next to it.  The wings may have to go since casting protruding parts is especially difficult.

Midnight Joker

Never was very happy with how that old jack in the box turned out.

Here is an update with a background and better lighting.  This time rendered in Maya / Mental Ray vs. just Zbrush.

Gallery Selfie

So, in the ten years I lived in Los Angeles, I took a LOT of photos . . . and a lot of those photos were of art. Sometimes I would see my reflection in the framed glass. That inspired me to make this "Gallery Selfie" out of some of the pics.

Full credit and inspiration goes out to all the artists out there who spend their days creating artwork like this.

Dialectica (Evolution of a Logo)

A friend of mine recently started a website based around debate called "Dialectica".
I created some animation for the company which you can see below.

Still a lot of tweaking going on, but the website should go public soon.

Cliff

Now back to our regularly scheduled 3d workflow.

This is an old postcard of "Cliff".   I made him with Maya and Photoshop.

Illustration and Glitch Art

Been working so much on 3d stuff, I wanted to take a little break.

Reworked an old drawing for printing.  Lightened up the background, whilst trying to keep the original texture intact.

Also, something for the Line and Pixel project:

Art Station

ANOTHER gallery site?

Yeah, yeah, apparently so.

These all seem to follow a similar format as CGhub used to.  Where Draw Crowd was started by Feng Zhu, this seems to be run by Ballistic Publishing.

Take a gander...

Dragon Skeleton Sculpt

Here is a scan of an old dragon skeleton I sculpted.  The sculpt was starting to fall apart and so scanning it just made sense.  Also, an excuse to use my Nikon DSLR.
